Minimum Qualifications

Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

Ability to relate to one's peer group

Ability to accept supervision and guidance

Ability to assist in teaching an activity

Good character, integrity, and adaptability

Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control

High school graduate or equivalent, or at least 18 years of age

Responsible To
Head counselor and/ or camp director

General Responsibility
To identify and meet camper needs. To carry out camp programs. Ensure that campers have a safe enjoyable summer while developing confidence, leadership skills, and giving positive feedback.

•   A Serious Work Ethic- An unwavering commitment to providing the best summer possible for Blue Dolphin campers

•   Teamwork-Socially able to work with and support others, while accepting on-going feedback and evaluation from supervisors.

•   Intelligence-Able to problem solve and make sound decisions.

•   Empathy- Sensitivity, compassion and understanding with children

•   Adaptability-The ability to think quickly on your feet and improvise.

•   Positive Disposition-An optimistic, upbeat outlook with lots of energy and spunk!

Question 18. WHO ARE THE COUNSELORS?

Our counselors are predominantly college students and teachers.  Most of our counselors are either former campers or people who have excellent credentials with previous summer camp experience.  Senior Counselors start at 17 years of age.  Leaders in Training are selected from former counselors at age 16.
